Buying Bikes
It’s getting winter here, so soon there’ll be more rain and it’ll be colder in the morning, but we’ve decided to invest into bicycles again. The last ones we had, really good ones with shock absorbers and lights and 148 gears, have been stolen only weeks after we had the bikes. We live in a security complex which isn’t all that secure (and I have developed my very own insecurity complex about it, no kidding). Our bikes were locked with big heavy D-locks but I guess the *&^%$ thieves just took the locked bikes as is and removed the locks later.
With bikes, we could do little tours on the weekends. Saggybutt isn’t impressed with the idea, but I think it could be quite fun to cycle to the beach or in Kings Park (which is really quite big and overlooks the city). When I still had my day job and worked 9 to 5, I used to cycle to work. It wasn’t far and certainly quicker and cheaper than going by car. In fact, I didn’t have a car then, so maybe that was the real reason for cycling so much, cough cough.
