Saggybutt’s day off
Well it is Sunday, and I wasn’t so surprised when Saggybutt didn’t feel like joining me for our morning powerwalk. Claiming her day off, she preferred to stay in bed. It’s Sunday after all!
Undeterred, I did a bit of bench press and some feeble attempts at crunches with the gym ball, then went on to do my powerwalk, determined to shave a few minutes off our usual exact 30 minutes. The first half I was really gunning it, and I could feel the strain in my lower legs and in my ham strings. It was later than usual (9.30) and a sunny day, so I broke quite some sweat. I noticed that in the second half of the walk, my mind was wandering off and I caught myself frequently strolling along quite leisurely instead of powering on.
Back home, I downed my protein drink and jumped on the scale. It’s been nearly a week since I started this exercise program and I expected some progress. To my disgust, the scale said 91.5 kg! I started off with something like 90 kg. Could it be that all that protein and creatine has in fact made me put on some weight? Could it be muscle, or could it be all water, channeled into my previously flat muscles by the creatine?
Looking in the mirror, I must say things are looking more tolerable to the eye. Especially my upper body really looks a bit beefed up. Goodbye MrTubby, Hello MrBeefy! Well I can live with that too. On the plus side, the body fat percentage as revealed by my electronic scale seems to indicate that I have actually lost some fat. I used to be 25%, now it says 22.5%. Honestly, I don’t believe either value because I tend to measure body fat in the morning when it is most variable. One is meant to measure it at the same time some time in the afternoon when the body fat measurements are most consistent. Either-way, I think in terms of relative happenings, I would say my new life style is showing the right results. I am beefing up and losing fat while totally enjoying my food without any restrictions. What could be better than that?
