My first soup

Last night I bravely faced my first big challenge. I was to cook my lunch for today! The book contained a recipe for tomato soup. What an adventure! It included using the oven, the pan, lots of chopping and guess what…
I was totally into it! I donned a lab coat, got all the ingredients together and embarked to explore one of the last great mysteries of mankind… cooking!

Initially everything I did was under the very watchful eye and rather unforgiving supervision of Lil Ms Saggybutt who seemed to be quite pained, seeing me taking over the kitchen. With a stern voice, she’d help me out and explain to me what things are, and in general behaved as if she was a female Jamie Oliver incarnate and I was some rather dull cooking-apprentice she’d just picked off the street.

I had serious fun and was acting like a monkey on speed. I followed the recipe and before you know it, I was stuffing things in the oven here, sauteing the onions there, chopping into fine slices this, crushing that, chopping this, mixing that, you name it, I did it all, whizzing around the kitchen like a possessed dervish. Meanwhile, Saggybutt decided that having me turn the kitchen on its head was clearly something that violated her personal space and offended her sense of order and her mood dropped below zero.

When my masterpiece was nearing completion, and the kitchen was more sparkling clean than ever (sorry it’s true honey!) Saggybutt began to warm up a little bit again. At the end the procedure, I was taste testing and seasoning to taste and I felt like one of those TV chefs that go “ooh and ahh” when they taste what they just prepared. Home made, fresh tomato soup, mmh! In the fridge it went, to be consumed today. Oh, and before I forgot, this morning I weighed 92.6 kg, with 24.8% body-fat. The diet is working, but I suspect most calories I burnt scrubbing the kitchen.

Having tasted Mr Tubby’s first ever cooking experiment, I’d like to give him lots of praise and thumbs up. The soup tasted phenomenal! I love tomato soups and this was one of the best ever. Well done and big kisses from your Saggybutt.
